I maintain blender for openSUSE and I maintain it with ffmpeg enabled in Packman but 2.57b being the first build for Packman there isn't one there at all. Campbell gave us (I'm collaborating with Richard Shaw of Fedora) two svn revisions to revert to python 3.1 rev#35386 and rev#35395 and we have patches for them but it seems that something else has crept in while we were getting openCOLLADA to build with cmake. Linux Distributions don't like packages to use their own bundled libraries and Packman has refused to let me introduce python 3.2. openSUSE has python3-3.2 in devel:languages:python but it isn't even in factory (next release in 7 months) so it can't even go into our rolling update repo yet. Blender-2.57b OTOH can if it builds with python 3.1. Any bugs go through me anyway.
