Not quite true, it also has to do with the version that is linked the
executable. For instance there is a bug where you can't load jpeg files on
linux for cycles due to the different versions of libjpeg that are linked
against OIIO. The two versions should ideally be the same. That's why I
have proposed a way to build extern/openjpeg earlier.
