Hi all, I've submitted Blender Foundation as mentor org for Google Summer of Code. This is the 10th edition, and Blender's been participating since the first. Hope we're accepted again this year :)
Status of the previous student's projects are below. I've tried to summarize it with funny greek characters :) http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/GoogleSummerOfCode/2013 I think the accepted projects were of (sometimes too) high level in 2013, complicated development work changing bits of code in many places in Blender, which is hard to review. For 2014 I would advice to really encourage students to submit projects that are easier to isolate (in a library or distinct separate files). We can also reflect that on our ideas page. Mostly a copy of last year's page still: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/GoogleSummerOfCode/2014/Ideas We should bring this page into shape during the coming week. Please note that this is not a feature request page, but a page for current Blender module teams to mark down projects they think are acceptable. Todo for everyone: remember to mention our GSoC opportunity when you talk to brilliant CG students out there! Timeline: Febr 24: Announcement of accepted mentor orgs. March 10: Student application start March 21: Student application end April 09: Slot allocations April 21: Accepted students announcement May 19: official start June 27: midterm evaluation Aug 18: Pencils down. Note that the schedule is almost 1 month sooner than last year. -Ton- -------------------------------------------------------- Ton Roosendaal - [email protected] - www.blender.org Chairman Blender Foundation - Producer Blender Institute Entrepotdok 57A - 1018AD Amsterdam - The Netherlands _______________________________________________ Bf-committers mailing list [email protected] http://lists.blender.org/mailman/listinfo/bf-committers
