Hello, it might not be an ideal replacement of MD's interactivity but one can already control the cloth simulation to some extent using hooks, as explained in this tutorial : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cZAJ5aKwGo I know it probably does not impeccably answer your needs but I figured it might help anyway.
