Hi all, Google will open submissions in 2 days. This year students can send in drafts and revise it based on feedback. Hopefully we can find time for the students to get them up to speed with our projects! Student proposals and reviews will be visible for mentor-candidates only. If a student choses to, he/she can make it public too.
Students will have 11 days to submit, we then have two more weeks to review and decide. There have been a number of questions here and in irc about ideas on the GSoC list. If you added an idea there, please reply to such questions. We could make more clear that some ideas are also not good GSoC projects for inexperienced (new to Blender) developers. I also want to explicitly mention to students that we also appreciate them to define their own projects! The ideas list is for inspiration, your own ideas are very welcome. As usual, there will be a public GSoC list and a private GSoC mentor list.
