Hello there,

I sent this message before but made a small mistake.
I was subscribed to this mailing list, but not with this e-mail address, so my message got tagged for moderator review or something. Lame, right? Anyway, I have now (hopefully) remedied the problem by subscribing with this address and resending the message.
Here it is:

I'm Peter Cassetta. For six months now, I have been developing my online material library add-on. It is currently in Blender's script tracker: http://projects.blender.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=31802

The latest version of my add-on (0.4) brings a ton of improvements.
One important one is that it's now easy to add more libraries.
Some in the #blenderpython IRC channel have suggested hosting a library on the Blender SVN; I believe this would be quite simple, with the way my add-on handles libraries now.

My add-on has also become quite popular now.
For example, there is a material library hosted on my website <http://peter.cassetta.info/material-library/>, which is used through my add-on. It consists of a library XML file, BCM files (my *B*lender *C*ycles *M*aterial format; also XML-based), and previews for each material. Last month (October), it received nearly twelve thousand hits from almost six hundred unique IP addresses.

I released the latest version on November 10th and have already updated the BlenderArtists thread. I will update my add-on's wiki page and the information located on my own website shortly. The add-on now handles restricting materials in a library to only certain versions of Blender, or even certain versions of the add-on. It is quite well off security-wise at this point; there is no longer any trace of calls to eval(). As far as I can tell, nothing worse can happen now than what is already possible with normal HTTP requests.

To help the add-on become even more accessible to the community, I would now like to request that my add-on be moved to contrib. As well, I would like to request access permissions for the contrib/ SVN folder. I have subscribed to the bf-python and bf-extensions mailing lists, as per the wiki.

I am excited to continue the process of getting my add-on included in Blender.

Many thanks,
Peter Cassetta
