There are lots of good introductions on BGG :-( Step 1: Everyone puts items on a Geeklist.
Step 2: At a certain time, additions are cut off. Step 3: People make a list, for each item, of what they will accept for it. For example, I'd like to trade my copy of Civilization for Joe's copy of Agricola, but for my copy of Fluxx I'll accept any of the people's offers of Tichu, Coloretto, or Bohnanaza. Step 4: Everyone sends their wantlists to the moderator by a certain time. Step 5: A complex algorithm figures out who gives what to whom. For example, maybe I give Fluxx to Joe, who gives Fairy Tale to Carol, who gives Bohnanza to Bill, who gives Coloretto to me.
