Somewhat true. However, with new games received over Christmas there are plenty of questions to ask the BGG community as well as look at basic strategy that others have posted. I've also read session reports to get tips on how to teach the game or pitfalls to avoid. I'm also like logging my games played and commenting on them.
So yes, I use BGG to consider what to get next but there are plenty of other things to do as well.
