Hi indigopotter, if you've only just created your account then all your posts need to be Okayed by an admin before they show up - that's a spam reduction measure. I'm not sure how long it lasts before you're no longer a "new user".
Even after that stops, when you reply to a thread, your own reply isn't visible until you exit the thread and go back into it.
