I'm a Carc fan, and my SO is nuts about it.  But we both a agree that
basic Carc isn't that good for two players, and expansions don't help
with that.

If expanding your Carc collection is an option, we like New World for
two, and love Hunters and Gatherers for two .  The meadow scoring
rules and bonus tiles keep some tension in the game, but at the price
of adding randomness.  The Castle (2 players only) is one we enjoy a
lot too, but it puts a twist on the basic Carc mechanic that some
don't like.
