I like it and recommend it.
Allow me to propose a rule change which many prefer. In the game as
written, if a sole player is the first to produce an invention, he
takes the card. If two or more players first produce it in the same
turn, they have a blind bid to take the card. This puts them at a
very strong disadvantage. One player gets nothing, and even the
winner of the bid may pay close to the full value of the card.
Instead - keep the blind bid auction, but have the value of the bid go
to the player(s) who did not win the auction (rather than to the
bank). The effect is that the value of the card is shared among those
who completed the invention.
