I'm also a "new addict" to BGG. I've always enjoyed playing board
games with my family growing up and in college my friends and I had a
serious Risk addiction. This past december a friend was over visiting
my girl friend and I and he saw my old Risk set and asked if we could
all play. My girlfriend had never played before but ended up loving
it. After that we started having nightly Risk battles just the two of
us and I even bought her a copy of original Risk for Christmas.
Shortly after Christmas I went to out local game store with the
intention of picking up a new strategy game that we could play besides
Risk. That trip resulted in the Purchase of Power Grid. My girl
friend, and all of our friends loved it. After that I was hooked too,
and started reading BGG daily reading all sorts of reviews and geek
lists.

Since then I have picked up Carcassonne, Dominion, San Jaun, Pandemic,
and Imperial.

We have even created a game group that meets every Friday that has
grown to four couples. My best friend and his fiancée even picked up
their own copies of Pandemic and Power Grid.

Pandemic is a great game for anyone. I've played it with at least
fifteen different people and they have all been impressed, but right
now our favortie game has to be Imperial. If you can find a copy of
this one you absoluelty must. It's a very deep experience, anything
can happen as the control of the various countries changes between
players. Imperial will be on our groups table for quite some time to
come.
