If you're playing with "serious" gamers, yeah it's going to suck. Playing this game is like hanging out at a bar with buddies. Just enjoy the company and have fun. You're not going to have fun if you spend the whole time thinking about how the beers would be SO much cheaper if you bought them at the grocery store, or if you're irritated about the noise level or whatever. Just chill, chat, and have fun.
Regarding the "win" conditions ... yeah, it's basically a raffle. One of the tickets is going to win, but the more tickets you manage to get, the better your odds of winning. Still, every player of this game should realize that the winning ticket may very well be the first ticket sold. So just relax and don't take it too seriously.
