My girlfriend and I have been playing the crap out of this game the last few days. I am completely enamored with it right now, and I'm glad she has been enjoying it as well. We had a really funny session a few moments ago.
All of the stars seemed to align for me, as I got Revolts in Numidia, two major campaign cards, and a few other helpful cards like bad weather and mercenaries flee cards in my first year. I was able to sail Longus into Western Numidia and take control of the province right away. After an unsuccessful push by Hanno, Africa looked like it would be my playground. My girlfriend tried to sail Mago into Africa, but ended up rolling a 6 and had her ship sink. I then slowly took control of the rest of Africa as well as subjugating the tribes in northern Italy to give me a 12-6 lead on the Carthaginians. This meant she was losing control markers rapidly. Rome appointed Marcellus in the fifth round and I had a campaign card which allowed me to start a successful siege on Carthage. When Scipio Africanus joined my team in round six, I sailed him into Carthage and captured it within two rounds. The game took a total of 1h10 minutes therefore becoming the shortest HRvC game I've ever played. I felt bad for the Carthaginians and my girlfriend shot me some dirty looks, but we both had a huge laugh afterwards. This wonderful game is a definite 10 for me, and is becoming an all time favorite. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "BGG Down" group.
