This is what I do also. I subscribe to games that are older. The traffic on new games is much higher, so they would flood my subscriptions however older, less popular, games are good candidates since I don't check their forums regularly.
Also, I subscribe to the forum for my local area (Ontario, Canada) so that I know about events that are happening near me.
