Hello everybody!
Dicelantis started development in 2011 after we looked for a quick
"take-that" dice game we could take down the pub and couldn't find one. But
when my co-designer Matt Green and I saw a design competition from Indy
Boards and Cards, we knew we could take this fun little game and start
getting serious with it. So we made one of the most important decisions in
our 'design careers', and tried to publish one of our games. In the 5 years
that followed, we had trials and tribulations a-plenty. We've had ups and
downs, we've had Krakens, pitches to Mayfair, exclusivity requests from
Z-Man, discussions if the Pirate Ships was really worth it but most of all,
we miss the pink mermaid dice...
It's been a long journey <https://exampleofplay.com/2016/04/13/dicelantis/>,
but we've finally reached the end of our quest and released the game for
free as a PnP. All you need is a printer and some blank dice, and you can
create a copy of this light, fast paced game for free.
Matt has written up a really great article summarizing the 5 years we've
had with this game. And he's done it with much more honesty and detail than
I ever could. So if you would like to read the full story, check it out...
