My favorite bit of trivia about computer systems: particles coming off of 
the sun can actually cause bit changes in RAM, which can make your computer 
do all kinds of random things (but usually just crash).

Servers almost always have error-checking memory to account for this. But 
sometimes when your home computer seems to crash or break or flip out for 
no reason, it is actually the sun's fault.

Improbable? Yes. But it does happen.
