Congreso Latinoamericano sobre World Wide Web (LA-WEB 2006) se celebrará del 25 al 27 de octubre del presente año en la Universidad de las Américas Puebla, ubicada en Cholula, México. LA-WEB 2006 es el cuarto de una serie de congresos que se celebra en América Latina y que atrae a investigadores y empresas para presentar y promover avances en investigación y desarrollo tecnológicos relacionados con la red global conocida popularmente como Web. El congreso LA-WEB se ha efectuado anteriormente en Santiago de Chile (2003), São Paulo, Brasil (2004), y Buenos Aires, Argentina (2005). Este año tenemos el orgullo de presentar un evento del mejor nivel académico y científico, avalado por un comité verdaderamente internacional (con integrantes de instituciones de 19 países), así como una grata experiencia durante su estancia en Cholula y Puebla. El programa de LA Web 2006 incluye más de 20 ponencias por investigadores que provienen de países de América Latina así como de España, Portugal, Estados Unidos, Bélgica, Reino Unido e India. Previous editions of LA-Web have taken place in Santiago, Chile (2003), São Paulo, Brazil (2004), and Buenos Aires, Argentina (2005). LA-Web 2006 will be held at the beautiful campus of the Universidad de las Americas-Puebla, in Central Mexico. Keynote speakers: Bonnie Nardi (UCI) and Hector Garcia-Molina (Stanford Univ.). Posters are a great means for researchers and students to share their work in an interactive forum by displaying the context and preliminary results of their work in a visual manner. Posters also promote direct contact among conference participants who share research interests and make research work visible during the entire conference. Additionally, specific times for poster discussion will be scheduled as part of the conference program. Topics include but are not limited to: * Browsers and user interfaces * E-commerce, E-Science, E-government and E-Learning * Digital libraries * Multimedia and hypermedia * Mobility and ubiquitous web access * Performance, reliability and scalability * Search and data mining * Semantic web * Web engineering * Collaboration and web communities * Security, privacy and copyright issues * XML and web services * Collaborative tagging * Blogging * Web visualization * Web usability Poster submissions should provide a concise description of the work to be presented, reporting original work in English. Submissions should not exceed two pages. One-page submissions are encouraged. Authors must follow the IEEE Conference Publications Manuscript Formatting Guidelines (templates are available from the conference website). A digital version of all accepted poster submissions will be provided to all conference participants. Additionally, presenters are advised to provide printed leaflets or brochures that conference participants may use for reference during or after the poster sessions. Visually attractive presentations are expected (consider an 80 cm x 120 cm area). Important dates: Submission of poster proposals: August 25, 2006 Notification of acceptance: September 15, 2006 Final version of accepted posters: September 29, 2006 Poster presentation at LA-Web 2006: October 25-27, 2006 Venue With a 73-hectare (about 180-acre) campus, in a valley surrounded by four of the highest volcanoes in Mexico, Universidad de las Americas-Puebla (UDLA) is located in the ancient city of Cholula, seven kilometers from the city of Puebla and 120 kilometers from Mexico City. Puebla and Cholula are known for their rich history, architecture and gastronomy. A wide range of attractions as well as travel, dining and accommodation options are available to visitors.
