The IASI list, moderated by Aldo Barreto, professor of IBICT has from the start included discussions of fundamental importance for the area as well as information about events, book and journal launches, job offers and placements. The sites were chosen for having connections with accredited institutions, for being free, and for posting offers for all kinds of jobs, in all knowledge areas, the exceptions being the INFOHOME and Bibliotecárias sites which post only offers for information professionals."
