I see now that you've replaced the AMButtonBarItem by an NSButton. that doesn't work on Tiger. For adjacent buttons sometimes either mouseEntered: or mouseExited: is not called. Why doesn't setShowsBorderOnlyWhileMouseInside do the job? Perhaps we should add the trackingrects to the buttons (but that may have the same problem).
