Yes, I think this will build into your default Debug directory. However, you can override the build location on the command line. So on my system I have done: xcodebuild -target UnitTests -configuration Debug build SYMROOT=/GD/dev/bib/bibdesk/bibdesk/buildtemp/ and that worked fine. I guess you should probably try it on your setup and fix accordingly.
