BTW, I think I actually do have a user name set in .ssh/config, but for the 
generic host (*) (but I don't know how it got there, perhaps as part of the 
process of registering the sf key.) So that may be it. On the other hand, 
doesn't passing the username as a command line argument also work (ssh co 
--username ununnilium ...)?
