There is no kMDItemType declared in the MDItem header, so that might be a
red herring.  I see kMDItemContentType = "net.sourceforge.bibdesk.bdskcache"

I see the same thing (Publication), but I couldn't figure out why.  Now I
remember making that change to the .strings file :).
