Hello,

I am a new user to bidesk and after being abused by endnote numerous times i can see clearly the benefits. However, after going through the manual and much of the wiki, i am unable to find an answer to the following.

In endote there is a very simply feature for formatting an .rtf document. You simply insert (in the case of bibdesk) cite-keys were necessary for in-line citations. Then, you open the "format .rtf document" window, which allows you to check the citations to make sure they all match and then format the in-line citations and generate a bibliography based the desired template. (note: I understand how to make templates but it would be great to know if basic templates are archived somewhere, such as for major journals--i am a sociologist). You can also edit the template for in-line citations in endote, which i do not understand how to do in bibdesk.

I do have TeX installed and the preview window works fine, but I would like to be able to preview an entire document based on a specific .bib. I really don't understand how to make a TeX document using TexShop, nor am i excited to learn, even though this is an obvious solution.

Yet, having this functionality seems essential for those who want to use open source apps like bibdesk instead of endnote, so i hope i am just missing something. I checked the applecripts page on the wiki as well. Please let me know.

Thanks,

jonna
