Dear list members, during a recent search for publications from a specific author using the built-in Web of science SCI search bookmark I got unexpected few results. Going more into detail, I found that using keywords as well as author names gives a significantly different number of hits when entered into the BibDesk web of science SCI search field or directly into the appropriate field of the Web of Science general search page ("topic" or "author"). Example: "melolontha" (genus name of a scarab beetle) gives 100 hits with BibDesk, but 173 hits when entered into the "topic" line of the Web of Science main search page. Has anybody similar experiences? Any ideas how to be sure that you really get all the information you want to look at?
Many thanks to the developers for providing the community with such a great tool as BisDesk is!
