sure, as I just replied to Christiaan (did not see your message until I sent my one off) I want two scripts which do something similar to the booktitle script: I have the custom fields "shortauthor" and "shorttitle". what sometimes happens when I add a lot of new pubs is that esp. for crossref items I do not fill in these fields right away. The crossref feature will leave me with values inherited from the parent which of course is absolutely wrong for the child. I thought about a script hook that will automatically copy title and author to these two custom fields so that I avoid these errors (even if I still would have to shorten the title and abbreviate the authors' names of course).
