I think a TAR archive would be more appropriate, yes. Perhaps the "About Scripts" dialogue could mention that scripts are downloadable from the wiki.
I get your point about scripts and not including them by default. Is there anything new in 10.5 on the side of text handling (upper/lower/capit. casing?)
