Hi Simon, I saw the same entry, and Alf has contacted me directly about this
too.
I'm looking into it as time allows, and it does seem like it'll be possible
to use platform independent javascript scrapers in BibDesk.

The real limiting factor is time, but because of the benefits of
consolidating effort on scrapers, the next time I can work on BibDesk, I'll
be working on this.
