Just a few suggestions about the online manual material related to
templates, for when you have time to look at this :-) ...

1. There is some complexity to the templating system and it might be
helpful if there was an overview of templates either on the top-level
template page
(http://bibdesk.sourceforge.net/manual/BibDesk%20Help_54.html#SEC109
) or as the first section under it.

2. I think it would be helpful if the overview listed all the pages
available in the template section with brief descriptions. For
example, knowledge of the template keys is essential to writing or
modifying templates, but to find a listing of the keys you need to
traverse links from the top template page, to the "customizing
templates" page to the "template tags appendix" page and finally, find
the link to the template keys page at the very bottom of the template
tags appendix. As an alternative, it might help to list the subpages
on the top templates section page, in outline form under the main
pages that are currently listed there.

3. The template keys list has very few descriptions entered for the
keys. It's not always completely apparent what strings the keys will
produce based on their names, particularly if you're just starting
with templates. Descriptions/examples would help a lot.

By the way, the new template editor is an excellent start toward
putting the power of the templating system into the hands of regular
folks.

Best wishes,
