Did you add it to a local file field? Than it's interpreted as a file  
path, as it doesn't have a "file://" scheme part. Otherwise the file  
location would never be added. Local file fields are meant to store  
only files, not URIs. For URIs you should use remote RL fields (or  
linked remote URLs in the new layout).
