I have one main bib file, and I store all the papers in a "papers"  
folder. I used to have BD auto file them in author-last-name folders,  
but I gave that up, and now I just have BD autofile them in the papers  
folder with no subfolders. As some point I mean to get them out of the  
subfolders and delete the subfolders.

At some point on this list Mike McCracken said something like "that  
way lies madness" about putting the papers in subfolders. I think he's  
right, because there are so many of them, and the author last names  
are pretty much meaningless if I wanted to sort through by hand.
