Sigh. Based on this and your comment in your earlier reply, I
realized that I was outsmarting myself. I am so used to escaping
characters to get past TeX that I was doing it unconsciously here:
putting the escapes in for BibDesk, and taking them out when
describing them here.
In short, never mind. Sorry for the wasted bandwidth.
