FYI... I'm not sure about other styles (or compatibility with BibText  
standards), but APA citations do use year ranges (e.g., 2006-2007) for  
some works, such as multi-volume works.

Just thought I'd mention it, as it may impact the process for  
truncating that string (if that was the plan.)
