No, BERB is Bookends' creator code.  Mellel sends Apple Events to an app
with the BERB creator code and tells it to process citations and convert
them to a bibliography.  When I looked into this a few years ago, the Mellel
developer suggested changing BibDesk's creator code temporarily to BERB for
development, and they'd add another code if it started working.
