I have an abstract with the title field:
{Metallicities of 0.3{\lt}z{\lt}1.0 Galaxies in the GOODS-North Field}

When I do a TeX preview, it bombs due to the embedded TeX.

If I change it to:
{Metallicities of 0.3<z<1.0 Galaxies in the GOODS-North Field}

it doesn't bomb, but the preview shows as:
Metallicities of 0.3¡z¡1.0 Galaxies in the GOODS-North Field. (ie the
'<' is changed to an inverted '!')

I presume this is an encoding problem somewhere. It's not dependent on
what I set the TeX Template encoding to in preferences.

Can anyone suggest what I need to do to get the '<' characters to print
correctly in the preview?

Thanks

DN
