Thanks, for clarifying this, yes it's the extensions. AFAICS only scripts (.scpt) and script bundles (.scptd), but no application (.app) nor application bundle (.app) is installable as a hook. The latter are not even selectable. If no extension is present, it looks almost random, since then some files are selectable, others not, and for no file without an extension is the button "Choose" active. As expected, symbolic links don't matter. they only invited me to use different file names (for instance without extensions). Fortunately no bug here.

That works for me. The main difference between the Template dialog and the Script Hook dialog is that the latter only allows files with certain extensions.
