Sorry for not being more specific.  I am saying that, in the window  
below the web search window (showing the MathSciNet results), there  
are no 'import' entries (the window is blank).

I think that I see the difference now, though.  My bad for not  
checking further before writing.

It appears that the 'import' entries arise from the article in  
question, together with the references therein.  Correct?

The distinction between having imports and not appears to be that in  
the case where they appear, there was only one hit in my search; while  
for the searches that show no entries, there are multiple hits.

However, I have another question: there are not always import entries  
for each reference.  In the case I'm dealing with, the paper of  
interest is referenced (in a "reputable journal"), but there is no  
import entry for it.
