All these ways of launching BibDesk from the command line produce correct previews: (SHELL=/bin/zsh open -a BibDesk) (SHELL=/bin/tcsh open -a BibDesk) (SHELL=/bin/bash open -a BibDesk) BUT, if I open BibDesk from the Finder, it does not. So it may not have to do with the SHELL variable, but something else that differs between the terminal environment and the Finder environment.
