Hello,

I do not want to start another discussion about a Bibdesk version for the iPad,
instead I would be interested in some advice on what might be the best workflow
for combining the Bibdesk database on my Mac with reading and annotating
articles on the iPad.

Basically the following steps should run as smoothly as possible:

1.) When adding an article to Bibdesk, the PDF should be synced more ore less
automatically with the iPad
2.) annotations made while reading the PDF on the iPad should be viewable in
Skim, Preview, Adobe etc.
3.) ideally, the synchronization from the iPad back to the Mac should also be
as easy as in 1.)
4.) least amount of afford for adding additional keywords, notes, comments to
the Bibdesk entry on the Mac

So far, I think that a combination of Dropbox and iAnnotate might be a
acceptable solution for points 1 to 3, especially when the whole PDF folder is
actually stored using Dropbox (in contrast to having a local PDF folder on the
Mac an just copying individual PDFs to Dropbox for use on the iPad).

There doesn't seem to be a really convenient solution for point 4, my idea is
to add a special note in the PDF with all those comments actually relating to
the Bibdesk entry and then manually copy these over to Bibdesk as soon as I am
on working on the Mac again.

Please excuse me, if this question actually is somewhat offtopic, but I guess
that some other Bibdesk users have similar problems. Also asking this question
in an iPad forum might have ended in answers like "use
Papers/Sente/Mendeley..." (all of which I tried without being overly impressed
by their features).

Looking forward to hear about your experiences,

Carsten
