I don't really care where you put that preference, you may even put it as
a hidden preference only settable via the defaults system.
I dare say I like that kind of diversity though.
This may collide a little with Apples User Interface Guidelines, but I believe
TeX and Bibdesk users to be litterate computer users, with needs that
should be adressed seriously.
My two cents.
