I just got a paper in PLoS one that was formatted using BibDesk and BibFuse. 
Here's what I used:

One problem is that BibDesk doesn't have a 
@componentsJoinedByCommaWithEtAlAfterFive modifier, so I had to use 
@componentsJoinedByCommaWithEtAlAfterSix and then manually chop out authors and 
add et als where necessary. It would be great to have 
@componentsJoinedByCommaWithEtAlAfterFive.
