Which means there's no way to change them manually(use an text editor like
Emacs)?

Like keywords, if I want to change all the keywords from "Quantum_Mechanics"
to "~Quantum_Mechanics"(to let this keyword to show up at the top -- poor
man's tree structure), I just need to open the bib file and do the string
replacement. Which is quite handy.
