Okay, I cannot reproduce this.  Just as well, as I can't get it to launch in 
the debugger under Lion anyway (with Xcode 3), and it won't build with Xcode 4. 
 Yay.

My guess is that my MacBook Pro is too old (bought in November 2007); I always 
see the "legacy" scrollers with my trackpad.  Alternately, there's some detail 
of how to reproduce the problem that I'm missing.

Sadly, using the color as the scrollview background color did not fix this 
problem.
