Sorry, I used poor terminology. By "default choice" I meant the inclusion of an 
authorOrEditor choice in the popup menu in preferences, perhaps as the last 
choice so that the position of previous items doesn't change, not as the 
default selection. That would highlight the availability of the option, 
particularly to new users. Does that help or is there still a backwards 
compatibility issue?
