Thanks for continuing to think about this.  Here are the steps I took:

* Copy PDF (works; doesn't hang BibDesk)
* Open Preview
* File|New from Clipboard (works; I see the bib entry)

* Quit everything
* Reopen BibDesk
* Copy PDF
* Open PowerPoint
* Paste (works; I see the bib entry)

So Copy PDF seems to work just fine for both copying AND pasting.

Note that Copy Rich Text hangs BibDesk on the copy action.  It doesn't get past 
the "Generating data. Please wait" step.  


Any other thoughts?  I'm beginning to fear that I'm the only one with this 
problem, which would be a real bummer!
