Eager Sports (used to be based in Wales, haven't heard from them from
some time) had something very like Rainmates, with a mesh panel at the
back of the legs, and an open seat. I never found them in the right
size for me, the M was much too large from crotch to waist, though the
legs were the right length. My sister ended up with them, but she
doesn't wear them any more (they can't have fitted her that well
either).
Eager Sports lightweight rain jackets used to be popular among racers
round here, many years ago, but a lot of companies make more advanced
stuff now.

BTW, my Rainlegs are holding up well, screwing them up and stuffing
them into the side pocket of a saddlebag isn't causing the material to
de-laminate.
