Hi everyone: I purchased an LED flashlight at Sams and taped it to my front rack and it works great as a 'to see' light. It is bright enough for a dark, wooded dirt road which is the 1st 1/2 mile of my commute. Here is a link to the light:
http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=381032#reviews. There are two in the package and I only use one on my bike. The reviews were not all that great so I'll stop short of recommending this particular product here. The main complaint was about the internal battery holder. This product works great for me so far and it was 1/2 the price of a similarly powered headlight on performancebike.com (1/4 the price if you count the fact that I got two lights for 1/2 the price) Anyway, somewhere online I've seen brackets designed to hold a flashlight and use it in this manner. Has anyone had any experience with this? Are there any other flashlights out there that work well. When/if this one of mine breaks I'll probably be looking for a new one.
