I made a crack in a recent message that I thought that Grand Bois (large or great woods, in French) was a silly name for a tire. Now I'm finally reading the recent Bicycle Quarterly, and discover that the name comes from Le Col du Grand Bois, which Velocio climbed many times. I should have known that.
The company Grand Bois was started in Japan in 1996 by Ikuo Tsuchiya, and I assume (but don't know for sure) that besides bicycles, they also spec these tires (which are made by Panasonic). Anyhow, nice tires.
