I set up an older rarely ridden mountain bike for a friend by swapping
out the knobbies for slicks, and replacing the tubes with these,
purchased on mail order from Performance Bike

Forté MTB Thorn Resistant Schrader Tube 26 x 1.5-2.0"

The listing says the tube is 4x thicker than normal; and I recall a
year ago installing them being surprised that they were so
heavy...duh...about 1 lb each, almost 1 kilo the pair.

For bikes as heavy as suffering the curse that began this thread, does
that matter?
