** * * <http://www.jharkhand.org.in/forum> ** ** ** Gangster - Not from Bollywood, its from Bihar June 22: A 21-year-old gangster ~ Amit from Jharkhand ~ who was wanted in connection with a case of robbery, was arrested from a hotel in Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road yesterday. A resident of Ranchi, Amit Singh alias Tara Singh, had taken shelter in the hotel after allegedly robbing Rs 16 lakh from a vehicle in Osmanji area, around 12 kilometres from Ranchi, last month. Originally from Chapra in Bihar, Amit a sharp shooter is a part of a notorious crime syndicate. He has served jail term earlier for involvement in some other crime. Acting on a tip-off, officers belonging to Criminal Investigation Department (CID), New Market police station and Jharkhand police raided the hotel and arrested Amit. He had come to the city a few days ago after some of his associates were arrested back home. A senior CID officer said that Amit, an important member of a Ranchi-based notorious syndicate of robbers and contract killers, had earlier been arrested in connection with two cases of rioting and robbery. He has also been trying to be a part of the active politics in Jharkhand. The officer said, Amit and his associates had intercepted a vehicle which was heading towards a petrol pump in Osmanji area and robbed Rs 16 lakh from the passengers. Amit came to the city recently after Bihar police raided his hideouts in Chapra. Later, CID officers led by special inspector general (Operations), Mr Rajiv Kumar and officers of the city police and Jharkhand police identified the hotel in which Amit was hiding and arrested him around 2 p.m. yesterday.
